BACKGROUND
Mo Ko Lanta National Park is the 62nd marine National Park of Thailand, It was established on 15th Aug 1990. The boundary of this National Park in 134 km2 (83,750 Rai), 18% of which is marine, It compose of 25 islands which plenty of shallow and deep corals.
TRAVELLIN TO KO LANTA
Take highway No.4 from Bangkok to Krabi. Continuing towards Trang, turn right onto route 4206 at Km.64 to Baan Hua Hin. A car ferry will take you to Ko Lanta Noi and Ko Lanta Yai respectively. Some areas are very steep, unsuitable for a saloon car
To visit Ko Ngai, Ko Rork, Ko Haa and Hin muang-Hin Daeng hire a boat from Sala Daan Pier (Ko Lanta Yai) or Haad Pak Meng, Amphur Silao, Trang Province, To get there, trun right off highway No.4 onto Route 4046 to Sikao, From there, 40 Km. A long Route 4162 will bring you to Haad Park Meng, KO Haa and Hin Muan-Hin Daengcan be reached on organized scuba diving boat trip

ECOLOGY
Sine the physical topography of the area is highly varies, with mountains, cave, streams, beaches, and sea, it supports several types of forest, i.e evergreen forests on southern Ko Lanta Yai and on Ko Ngai, limestone mountain froest on Ko Rork and Ko Haa, beach forest on the beaches of all islands, mangrove forest, and grassland, Most of the islands are not the larges and such only smaller mammals are found, such as Wild Boar, Dusky Langur, Mouse Deer, Indian Civet, and squirrel, Several species of reptiles are founds, most notably the Bengal Monitor and Water Monitor, both of which can easily be seen, There are also over a hundred species of resident and migrant birds.
The marine resources seen here are not only very attractive. They are extremely diverse, with an underwater ecosystem supporting hundreds of species of fish and marine life, including the Whale Shark and Manta Ray, which makes this yet another important scuba diving site in Thailand.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
When taking a trip to a national park, there are rules and regulations that every conscientious tourist must observe in order to maintain this public area sustain ably forever, They are
- Do not collect anything but rubbish.
- Do not make a loud noise, which disturbs other people and wildlife.
- Do not hunt, destroy, or do anything that harms plants. Animals and the environment.
- Do realize the significance of nature, in the everybody must share and learn to preserve it for ourselves and others.
Ko lanta Yai: The Park HQ is located on the southern most point of the island, There is a lighthouse on the hill of Laem Ta-nod. There are lots of beautiful sandy and rocky beaches. Orgeous scenery can be viewed on the top of lighthouse where as we can see sunrise and sun set obviously. The erosion of the current occurred at foot tips of Laem Ta-nod which it was call “Ko Moh”, amendable to staying longer. The park has developed a 1,725 m. nature trail long the sea cliff that passes through evergreen forest to reach a view point, the aim of the trail is to bring visitors closer to nature and encourage them to learn more about the interesting ecosystems them.
KO RORK consists of 2 island which are.
KO RORK NAI to the East, there is a sandy beach and snorkeling site. The the West. There are rocky outcrops and a scuba diving site. To the south. There is and old Siam (Thailand) boundary marker believed to have been set during the period of King Rama V.
KO RORK NOK Interesting attractions are Haad Ta-Lu, a white powdered horseshoe-shapes sandy beach. And AO Maan Sai. Along beach with a shallow-water coral reef, There is also a comp site. 1,050 m. nature trail and Lor Tor 1(KO RORK) substation.
KO NGAI have along white-powdered sandy beach with a shallow-water coral reef in front. There is a bungalow (of NP). Resort and restaurants here.
KO HAA (Tukonlima) is a group of gorgeous yet strange islands. On Ko Haa Yai is fresh Yai green grassland with a beautiful coral reef surrounding the island, as the Whale Shark can often be seen here. Another popular diving destination for both Thais and foreigners.
Hin Daeng-Hin Muang: Both are famed scenic scuba diving sites. The pinnacle of Hin Daeang Rorcks can only be seen at low tide. The sites are well know among divers throughout the world as the Whale Shark and Manta Ray can often be seen here.
